Forth (Rail) Bridge

15 08 2014

Have you ever had a scene or image that you cannot shake?  Seven years ago I traveled to Scotland to photograph Carrie and Tony’s wedding.  One evening, we went to the small village of South Queensferry to have dinner.  This bridge was right outside and loomed so large.  I took the photo.

Forth Rail Bridge

It is called the “Forth Bridge” or the “Forth Rail Bridge” as this one only carries trains.  It took seven years to complete and was opened in 1890. You can find out more information by clicking HERE.

I think of this bridge often – though I am not sure why.  It just seems so surreal and dream-like as if it’s reaching out of another time.. bridging centuries.

Another Wedding

Crossing The Threshold

It may have been another wedding, but it wasn’t just another day!

You may recognize these two from any earlier entry.  Their wedding finally rolled around last June.  It was a very humid Ohio summer day and it started early!  The bride and groom hung in there and even by the end of the long day of ceremony and photos in and around Cleveland, they were still smiling and enjoying their day.

Joseph & Amanda

I am not so sure I can say the same for the bride’s father.  He came in from out of town and definitely was dealing with the jet-lag as well as the emotions of his daughter’s wedding.  All in all though, he did well… all things considered.  You see, the photographer was me and I couldn’t have been happier!
